About the Board

The Liberty Community Association Board is made up of volunteers in our community. Executive and General board members serve a one year term of June to May. Scholarship chairs serve October to September.  Learn more about the positions below.

Position Summaries

EXECUTIVE BOARD ROLES

PRESIDENT:

  • Attend and preside all board meetings 

  • Serve on the Thrift Shop Board and oversees the Lakenheath Thrift Shop (Swanky Seconds) along with 1st Vice President

  • Volunteer at least two hours per month at the Thrift Shop 

 

1st VICE PRESIDENT:

  • Attend all board meetings

  • Assist the President and fill the office, if vacated and there are less than 6 months remaining

  • Act in the stead of the President when the President delegates authority to the V.P. or the President is unable to perform duties

  • Oversee all board positions in conjunction with the President

  • Serve on the Thrift Shop Board

  • Volunteer at least two hours per month at the Thrift Shop

2nd VICE PRESIDENT: 

  • Attend all board meetings ​

  • Manage LCA Volunteer Program through recruitment, research, and retention of volunteers

  • Oversee Trips and Tours and all Socials 

  • Volunteer at least two hours per month at the Thrift Shop

 

PARLIAMENTARIAN:

  • Attend all board meetings

  • Advise Officers and members of parliamentary procedure, according to Robert’s Rules of Order

  • Act as chairperson of the Constitution and By-Laws review

  • Act as chairperson of the Nomination Committee as delegated in the By-Laws

  • Act as Protocol Officer

  • Call for motions and voting procedures as appropriate

  • Volunteer at least two hours per month at the Thrift Shop

SECRETARY:

  • Attend all board meetings

  • Record minutes at all meetings

  • Volunteer at least two hours per month at the Thrift Shop

 

OPERATIONAL TREASURER:

  • Attend all board meetings

  • Maintain custody of all operational funds of the LCA and serve as custodian of the operational funds account

  • Buy and maintain adequate insurance for LCA and Thrift Shop

  • Volunteer at least two hours per month at the Thrift Shop

PHILANTHROPIC TREASURER:

  • Attend all board meetings/socials

  • Maintain custody of all philanthropic funds of the LCA and serve as custodian of the philanthropic funds account

  • Volunteer at least two hours per month at the Thrift Shop

GENERAL BOARD MEMBERSHIP

HOSPITALITY/MEMBERSHIP (co-chair possible):

  • Attend all board meetings

  • Maintain membership roster

  • Volunteer at least two hours per month at the Thrift Shop

SOCIALS/TRIPS & TOURS CHAIR:

  • Attend all board meetings

  • Plan and coordinate monthly socials three months out 

  • Plan and coordinate all trips

  • Volunteer at least two hours per month at the Thrift Shop

FUNDRAISING:

  • Attend all board meetings

  • Plan and coordinate up to twelve fundraising events throughout the year (3/quarter)

  • Work with the 2nd Vice President to recruit volunteers for fundraisers

  • Volunteer at least two hours per month at the Thrift Shop

PUBLICITY/HISTORIAN (co-chair possible):

  • Attend all board meetings

  • Oversee LCA website and social media

  • Create and order marketing tools

  • Work with President to create and publish monthly newsletter

  • Volunteer at least two hours per month at the Thrift Shop

THRIFT SHOP LIAISON CHAIR:

  • Attend all board meetings

  • Attend all thrift shop meetings

  • Serve as main communication between thrift shop staff and board

  • Maintain full knowledge of payroll, budget, volunteering, etc as required by board

  • Volunteer at least two hours per month at the Thrift Shop

COMMUNITY LIAISON CHAIR:

  • Attend all board meetings

  • Maintain working relationship with USO and commissary to grow cookie drive

  • Establish sign-up list for volunteers and cookie donations

  • Work with Publicity to make social media posts and obtain photos of event

  • Act as one of two LCA representatives on the Community Scholarship Association Board 

  • Work with Publicity to advertise the scholarship program

  • Volunteer at least two hours per month at the Thrift Shop
